Sea Green is pleased to announce its official partnership with Kospermindo, a leading Indonesian seaweed cooperative, with a contract signing event on November 30, 2024, at the National Consultation of the Indonesian Seaweed Community Conference in Makassar.
This partnership marks the beginning of Sea Green's collaboration with Kospermindo to onboard the first cohort of 2,000 seaweed farmers in South Sulawesi onto the e-Seaweed platform, Kospermindo’s digital initiative powered by Sea Green’s technology. Kospermindo plans to onboard an additional 20,000 seaweed farmers from Sulawesi during the platform's Phase 2 rollout, with a goal of reaching 100,000 seaweed farmers across Indonesia.
e-Seaweed will allow Kospermindo and its management team to scale its business operations by fully digitising its data records, providing real-time management oversight of farm and warehouse activities, streamlining processes with real-time auditable information, managing supplier and customer payments, and leveraging predictive analytics for business planning and forecasting.
As we prepare additional features for the full launch of the e-Seaweed platform by February 2025, we are concurrently planning the Phase 2 release of e-Seaweed. Phase 2 will introduce new features, including Marketplace, Financial Services, and Sustainability tools to deliver more value for Kospermindo, its farmers, and its downstream customers.
At the conference, we were honoured to present the e-Seaweed platform to a distinguished audience, including the Director of Seaweed at Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Mr. Nono Hartono, former Minister ofMarine Affairs and Fisheries, Dr. Rokhmin Dahuri, the Head of the Marine and Fisheries Department of South Sulawesi, Muhammad Ilyas, and many others. We were grateful for the positive responses from the attendees, and we are now eager to continue this journey with our Kospermindo partner to scale up to a projected 100,000 farmers to make the e-Seaweed platform the industry standard in Indonesia and further afield.
“This partnership is really special for the team,” said Alan Steele, CEO of SeaGreen. “We have a common vision with Kospermindo to optimise the seaweed supply chain, improve farmers’ livelihoods, and protect the environments where we operate. Their growth is our growth, so we look forward to building a stronger relationship with Kospermindo and their farmers.”
Arman Arfah, CEO of Kospermindo Cooperative, added, “We are thrilled about the opportunities this partnership with Sea Green brings. Our plan with e-Seaweed goes beyond trade—we are deeply committed to supporting farmers through various development programs. We firmly believe that digitising through this platform will significantly enhance the seaweed supply chain. Additionally, we are excited about the potential to scale this farmer management system, starting in South Sulawesi and eventually expanding acrossIndonesia.”
